Cruz L Pozo Monar
MY BIOGRAPHY
My full name is Cruz Lastenia Pozo Monar. I am married, and my husband’s name is Ricardo Aguaiza. We have one son named Danielito. We are from Ecuador. My family and my husband use to be named Laste, but in this country, everybody calls me Cruz. My biography has many steps from childhood, teenager, and adulthood. Each step in my life is marked because I used to live in different places with different responsibilities. Each paragraph shows you one part about my life, because the information is abundant, enough to write each detail about my life.
I am from Ecuador. I was born in a city called Guaranda, the capital of Bolivar province (province in Ecuador is like a state is in the USA). Guaranda is a small city located in the middle of Ecuador, on The Andes mountain range, on a snowcapped slope called Chimborazo; also, it is called seven hills city. Its temperature is between 10 and 18 centigrade. It is a four hours from Quito, the Capital of Ecuador. Province Bolivar has its particular tourist places like, snowcapped Chimborazo, sanctuary of Guayco (a little copy of the Roman Basilica), sanctuary of Carmelo located in Lourdes hill. Salinas Artisanship. Salinas is a village with many craftsmanship-factories with exportation products like a variety of cheeses, candies, chocolates, native clothes, and buttons. If you go to Guaranda city, you can get there only by bus, this city does not have airport. Traveling by plane since Guayaquil to Quito you will be able to identify the biggest snowcapped peak in Ecuador called Chimborazo. Bolivar Province has irregular superficies, with many hills, little rivers, brooks, creeks and streams. It has the specific holiday the Carnival, which celebrates every year. Many tourist get there, when summer beginning is nice to be there. My parents, relatives, and I have their own farm in a small village named Santiago, and they live there since they were born, many generations. Santiago is a little Village located a 30 minute by bus ride from Guaranda. Santiago as a Village has its owns tourist places. For me the most important is the Protector Forest named Totoras located 45 minutes by car from Santiago. It is a natural forest with many medicinal vegetables species, diverse flora and fauna characteristic of this place, and variety of ecosystems. The economic base of the families in Santiago is agriculture because the majorities of residents has a piece of land, and cultivate many products such corn, wheat, potatoes, beans, fruits and vegetables, also they raised many kind of domestic animals. The life in this village is quiet, without stress, free of pollution, and the populations know each other, in consequence, they have good relationship.
My family is small. There are six of us in my family. I am the oldest daughter. I have one sister named Laurita. She is a doctor, who is single, and lives in Chile. The oldest brother’s name is Jabier, he is Engineer, he is married, and with his wife Monica, have two daughters. They live in Tena city. My youngest brother’s name is Fabian. He is single, and he is studying at the University in Riobamba city. He is the closets brother to me. My parents are alive, and they live in Santiago. My parent’s names are Sixto and Umbelina. They have their own farm and cultivate many kind of grains, vegetables, fruits and others products. Additionally they raise many kind of domestic animals. They enjoy making traditional plates on specials days. It is nice to live on a farm with sufficient space, and vegetation. The air is free of pollution, and the food is fresh and natural. You can smell the natural flowers scent.
. When I used to live in Ecuador, my neighborhood was small; in fact, my near neighbors were Juan and his wife Maura. They had four children. They were very generous. When they prepared special food, they used to share with us, and the same way my parents did. They are a happy family; when they threw some parties, they used to invite us, and they enjoyed dancing. When Juan’s mother was alive, she was a good mother. I remember her as an exceptional human because she was kind, tender and lovely. She was like a grandmother for us. When our parents were absent from home, she took care of us. We liked to go to her house because she used to give us candy, cookies and other things. When she died, everybody mourned for her. Her name was Encarnacion; this is why we used to call her MAMA ENCARNA.
In every step in our lives, we have special person. The most important person in my life is my son Danielito. He is seven years old and he is attending public school in second grade in the top of his class. My husband and I love him over of all because he is our unique son, and he is our continuity. We had him in our 30s, and we know about our responsibility. All of our efforts are targeting to raise him the correct way. We want Daniel to become a good professional in his future. In spite of the fact that I do not have sufficient time, I taught him to read and write Spanish, and he is able to do it by himself. Daniel has been attending swimming classes, and when we go to the pool, he is able to swim by himself; in addition, he is attending additional Kumon class in Math, reading and writing in English. Daniel has strong personality; I have to talk him in the right words. Daniel is my son and he has rules to respect.
My son and I moved to USA on September 17 of 2007. We used to live with my parents, in their home in Ecuador. I worked for 13 years as a teacher at Santiago College, in Santiago Village; it was near to my parent’s home. I taught many subjects like Natural Science, Chemistry, and Anatomy. The student’s ages were from 12 to 18 years. I have good memories of a special student in the eight grades named Blanch. She was very smart girl and responsible student, and later she became a nurse in an important University in Guayaquil city. Alfredo was other student; everything in his personality was great He was musician. He had opportunity to participate with exposition in a College Fair, and he was the winner. At the same time that my life elapses in this way, my husband applied our documentation and brought us to New York City. We came to meet with him, and make one family, because we were living separate since we got married many years ago. Life in this city at the beginning was too difficult; in special, we did not speak English. The most difficult time for me was when I started to work, and had to leave my son with a babysitter. He was little, and unable to understand was what happening. Later we found a daycare for him and we left him there, then I felt better. My life started to change at the same time that my English improved, and I am able to do many things. Now I am attending English class in CLIP program at La Guardia Community College because I need to improve the life of my family and me.
I want to improve my English in order to find other job, and later I would like to be a teacher or other profession in this city, because when I made transferred to CUNY University, they gave me only 30 credits for my whole career from Ecuador. CLIP program gives me opportunity to improve my English at a low cost. My plans for the future are; to be a professional and get a better job for my family and me. Intellectual progress is very important for because it allows me to grow up in many ways. I encourage my husband to do the same because his English is better than I am. We think if we achievement this goal, it will be the best thing that we do for our family.
In conclusion, people have many things to show to the others, places, friends, things to remember, memories for to share with the future generation. The only one way that allows tknow about us is writing one biography. In this essay, I am trying to write a few things about my life. In the future, I will write each detail, like a book; because I need that, my son knows details about my life.
