Singles is a kind of romantic movie, where the protagonist characters couples, their names are Linda, the female character, and Steven the male character. The secondary characters are Janet and her boyfriend Cliff, who is a singer and has a rock band. The plot of the movie focused on the relationship of Linda and Steven and their environment. It was influenced by the secondary characters, whose live and relationships had the similar problems. Sometimes it is important too because of the attitudes of their characters in the movie. The ending of the movie was a kind of final that the majority wish for because triumphed the love.
Linda is a kind of woman who owns to upper middle class. She has a beautiful house with a parking space only for herself. She had a happy life living there. The movie started with Linda. She was thinking about her comfortable life. She was looking dogs in cages, and a person, Luis tried to catch her attention. However, she ignored him. Another occasion, when her car had problems, he solved it. From then, on they started to date and become sweethearts. She trusted in him, and she gave him her garage door. Luis told her that he has a visa, which let him to be in her country five years but he had to go back to Spain. As a proof of his love for her, he gave her a ring, and promised her that he would come back for her. Then they would get married. She was happy with his promise and sad at the same time because he went. Linda looked for her best friend Ruth and trusted her with this news. They went to the disco to dance one night, there, they found Luis with another women. His lie broke her heart.
Steve is a male protagonist. He is a professional who has an important job as a transportation official. One day he was thinking about his life and his relationship. One night Steve and his friend went to the disco. There was a concert of Cliff’s rock band, and there discovered Linda. He wanted to talk with her, but she rejected him. Steve invited Linda to go out and talk with him, but she said no, I am going home now. Outside of the disco, they met again and became friends. Next day, Steve called her and invited to have lunch, and she accepted. It helped them to become closer friends. They went to Steve’s apartment; and they spend the time talking about each other life and relationships. Steve filled her in about whom his neighbors are. Linda left Steve’s apartment, he wanted to give her the parking control, if she want to come back but she remembered what happened with her last boyfriend Luis, then she refused it. Linda went to her apartment and Steve followed her.
Janet was waiting for a call from her boyfriend Cliff, but he did not do it. She decided to go to Cliff’s home, there they were talking about their relationship, also she wanted to be pleasant and asked him about if her bra size is small, he answered sometimes.” “He really did not give her his real attention. Janet went to the doctor for get information to improve her bras’ size. Janet had another appointment with the bras’ doctor; he told her that she did not need this operation because her bras were almost in perfect size, and it is not her problem. It is her boyfriend’s problem. Probably he does not love her. She was confused about what the doctor told her, also, he filled in that he had feelings for her. He wanted to kiss her as a confirmation. However, she did not correspond to him. They had a large conversation, and finally Janet was agreed with her doctor about her breast ‘size. She went to Cliff’s apartment, and she tried to catch his attention, but Cliff continued ignoring her. Janet made a decision to end their relationship.
The relationship between Steve and Linda was improving, they were spending the time together, and she informed him that she was pregnant. He was happy with this new and decided to get married Linda. One day, they were in the car. She was driving it, but she distracted and they had an accident. Because of the accident, she lost her baby, and her personality was destroyed for it. Steve gave her console, but it not was sufficient. Linda told Steve that she wanted to take vacation. She wanted to go to a quiet place like sea because she wanted to think. When she returned, she felt good enough to continue with her life. Steve was waiting for her. She made a decision to be only friends with Steve. She thought that she lost their baby, so they did not have reason to be together. Steve loved Linda yet, one night, he made a phone call but she was not home. He left a message that he still loved her, and please call me back. When Linda returned home, she went to phone machine. There she realized that the tape was broken, so she could not listen to Steve’s message. Steve was desperate because Linda did not call back to him, and to make it worse his subway proposal project was rejected. He joked himself in his apartment, and he received a visit from Janet, she go in through the window. They were talking for a while, she left and made a promise that the next visit she would knock on his door three times. A couple days later, somebody knocked on the door three times, and when he opened his door, there was Linda. Steve asked her why she did not call back. He was happy. They got back together. At the same time that Cliff looked for Janet, they were happy too.
I always liked the romantic movie because of the ending of romantic movies is always the love, which overcomes all obstacles. In this, movie the evil character was Luis, but his bad behavior did not alter the life of the others characters. The ending of the movie is at the same time the beginning of the life of Steve and Linda as a couple. They were adult persons who had so much in common, and they complemented each other.
